"I am not a poet"
Michele Regenold

I am not a poet
Because
Analyzing poetry in college
Scared the bejeebers
Out of me.
I didn’t get it.
I am not a poet
Because
I can’t write
That short.
I need lots of room
For a story to
Grow and reach.
I am not a poet
Because
I don’t hear
Music in words
Like good
Poets do.
Instead I see story
In pictures
In my head.
Poets don’t
Tell stories
That way,
Do they?
